In high school, he was scouted by a major entertainment agency after serving as the vocalist in the band club. In 2018, he made his debut in the idol group ZE:A (Children of the Empire). However, he felt that this path was not aligned with his true dreams.

After debuting as an idol, he stumbled upon an opportunity to enter the world of musicals, which sparked his interest in acting. Gradually, he began to appear in dramas and developed a serious interest in becoming an actor. During a time when he was not widely recognized, he steadily grew through auditions, starting with minor roles, including supporting roles as a child actor, and continued to develop his career step by step. His win of the Rookie Award in 2014 marked the beginning of his position as a lead actor in dramas.

Recently, he co-starred in “Doctor Slump,” which marked the return of the hugely popular actress Park Shin-hye after her marriage and childbirth. It is remarkable to see how, eleven years ago, he played a supporting role as a student at Empire High School alongside lead actress Park Shin-hye in the drama “The Heirs,” and now he confidently takes on a leading role opposite her. This project truly showcases Park Hyung-sik’s great growth.

High Society

The rediscovery of Park Hyung-sik and Lim Ji-yeon(main villain in the drama ‘The Glory’). Instead of following a typical and obvious Cinderella story, the drama interestingly twists away from the usual chaebol romance by delicately portraying the class contradictions held by the characters. The writer’s sense is commendable.

The role played by Park Hyung-sik is that of a man with a deeply ingrained sense of elitism, unconsciously perceiving others as beneath him. While he approaches love freely, he believes that marriage should be calculated and arranged with a woman chosen by his parents from a suitable family.

Initially, the Park Hyung-sik couple played supporting roles at the beginning of the drama, but as the story progressed, they led to creative outcomes that rivaled the main leads, garnering immense popularity. Although the storyline itself is quite ordinary, the quality of the dialogue, the freshness of the plot developments, and the passionate performances of the actors made viewers collectively wish for a happy ending with Lim Ji-yeon.

Park Hyung-sik’s transformation from the image of the youngest brother to that of a bad boy exuding masculinity was a tremendous success!

Strong girl Bong-soon

The young CEO of the game-specialized company “Ainsoft.” He is the fourth son of the Oh-Seong Group’s illegitimate children. He broke free from his father’s shadow and found success in developing game items. In his twenties, he dated various women, but he is currently taking a break from relationships. Due to his lack of a girlfriend and his fashionable and stylish appearance, there are rumors that he might be gay.

As an illegitimate child of a newly wealthy quasi-conglomerate, he has been threatened by an unknown entity for some time, prompting him to hire a strong woman, Do Bon-sun, as his personal bodyguard. Among Korean actresses, Park Bo-young, known for her puppy-like cuteness and baby-faced charm, and the adorably charming youngest nobleman, Park Hyung-sik, create a sweet love line that is simply delightful!

With the great success of this drama, a series of productions featuring strong female characters such as strong girl Nam-soon is set to continue.

Suits

Fans of American dramas may have heard of or even seen it. This is the Korean version of “Suits”. First, Jang Dong-geon plays the legendary lawyer “Choi Kang-seok,” who is the best in the Korean legal field—a quintessentially ‘successful’ man who seems to have it all. On the other hand, Park Hyung-sik portrays the role of the genius new lawyer “Go Yeon-woo,” who possesses an extraordinary memory and showcases a special presence. Park Hyung-sik’s youthful charm, combined with a more mature vibe, enhances his masculine sexiness. His deep gaze adds sharpness and intensity, causing female viewers to experience frequent “heart-flutters.” The direction is also sophisticated, earning praise as a masterpiece.

Happiness

Set in the new normal of a post-COVID world where infectious diseases are commonplace, this drama depicts the class discrimination and subtle psychological warfare that unfolds in a newly built high-rise apartment building in a major city, where the upper floors are for sale and the lower floors are rental housing. It’s a fresh and more realistic drama that has evolved far beyond existing zombie narratives.

It touches on issues like the gap between rich and poor, family problems, intergenerational conflicts, familial love, and even secretly hidden criminals. The brilliance lies in how these heavy themes are presented with a light and comedic touch!

The realistically portrayed infectious disease and the human nature and ugliness that become apparent within it are incredibly interesting, and thanks to the protagonist Han Hyo-joo’s straightforward personality, it’s an enjoyable and refreshing watch.

Our Blooming Youth

A historical drama that combines the story of a crown prince cursed by a mysterious spell and a genius girl suddenly pointed out as the suspect in a family murder case. Can they save each other from their fates?

After the death of his older brother, he became the crown prince, losing the brightness of his childhood. He transformed into a rough, arrogant person who does not reveal his true self and whimsically displays his emotions. In front of him appears a woman named Minje, who possesses deep, transparent eyes that pierce through people.

From the first week of its broadcast, the show received positive reactions and was praised as a potential masterpiece for Park Hyung-sik. He showcased the weight of the drama with his exceptional gaze from the very first episode. Although Park Hyung-sik often appears cold to many, he delicately portrayed the sad fate and multidimensional character of Crown Prince Lee Hwan, who lives while embracing his own wounds.

Doctor Slump

Fourteen years ago, in the “National Mock Exam” for university entrance, there were two perfect scorers. One was “Yeo Jeong-woo,” who was attending Gangnam Myeongmun High School. He had never once dropped from the top spot in his school since enrolling, as if he was born to go to medical school. With his outstanding grades, wonderful personality, and perfect looks, he was loved not just by the students but by all the faculty—a true “charismatic perfect genius.”

The other was “Nam Ha-neul,” the eldest daughter of a fishing factory in Busan. She was a “terribly brilliant” student who worked 120% to achieve 100% results all the time. After class, she would run home like crazy, eager to study even more! She rarely talked with friends for more than ten minutes a day in total and would chew on Cheongyang peppers(terribly spicy pepper even for Koreans) to chase away sleep, a “study-obsessed” individual.

Fourteen years later, they come across again. One has quit his job due to a lawsuit worth billions, while the other has folded under burnout! Despite having lived enviable lives, they suddenly find themselves unemployed, caught in the worst slump of their lives!

‘Doctor Slump’ is a romantic comedy drama featuring Yeo Jung-woo (Park Hyung-sik) and Nam Ha-neul (Park Shin-hye), who, despite having seemingly only experienced an upward trajectory in life, suddenly find themselves facing a break. The portrayal of the two overcoming all their misfortunes and growing further warms the hearts of viewers and leaves a profound aftertaste.

The protagonist falling into burnout has become a recent cliché in Korean dramas. However, “Doctor Slump” takes a healing approach amidst the chaos, depicting a trendy narrative that compellingly illustrates the most current hot topic of experiencing empathy, vicarious satisfaction, and healing all at once.
