Psychopath Diary

A 100% pure psychopath serial killer. The story unfolds as the protagonist, who accidentally witnesses a murder scene and loses their memory in an accident, comes across a diary documenting the murder process. Mistakenly believing they are a part of a chain of psychopath murders, the narrative develops from there. Park Sung-hoon portrays a psychopath who is an ultra-elite director at a major securities firm, but he is a cold and meticulous killer who has lost the murder diary, making him the true final boss of the drama.

The reception of the drama’s development has been somewhat mixed. While some praise it for skillfully blending elements of comedy and suspense, offering a fresh experience, others criticize it for having overly convenient plot devices that diminish its quality during its airing. On the other hand, as the story enters its mid-to-late stages, it shows a disappointing decline in engagement, yet it has attracted a passionate fanbase due to its unusually fresh material and intriguing progression.

Personally, I believe this work showcases Park Sung-hoon’s growing presence and charm, and I found it to be quite enjoyable.

The Glory

“My dear Hana (pronounced the same as ‘one’ in Korean), why do you only know one (Hana) and not the other two?”

“(While pulling Hana-chan’s red hair) Do you know who my least favorite woman is? It’s Red-Haired Ann and the Red Cloak Chacha.” Je-jun struggles with his only complex of not being able to distinguish between red and green.

Despite being a villain, Je-jun’s clever wordplay is exquisite, making him an irresistible, charming man. His twisted affection for Yeon-jin and Ye-sol is also captivating. Park Seong-hoon mentioned that he struggled quite a bit while acting because he is not good at speaking ill of others.

For the time being, his name will likely be “Jeon Je-jun” for the Korean public. Surpassing this calendar work may have become his homework.

Queen of tears

He appears to be a pure-hearted pity man who can’t forget Hae-in, his first love from childhood, but he becomes a psychopathic villain following The Glory.

He has a luxurious noble style but is a man hiding dark secrets. As a child, he hated his mother for abandoning him and longed for love throughout his life, ultimately ending up unloved by anyone—a sociopath.

He shows enough charm to be able to steal Hae-in away from the globally popular actor Kim Soo-hyun (though Kim Soo-hyun is indeed a formidable rival). This drama is a must-watch! More than Park Sung-han’s passionate performance, the love story of the two protagonists will make viewers cry after a long time.

Squid Game 2

He played the role of Hyun-joo, a transgender character with a soft charisma. In an interview, he mentioned that this role was a character created by expanding the femininity within himself, and that it was a character with more courage and decisiveness than himself. The Netflix series “Squid Game” Season 2 was actor Park Sung-hoon’s 50th project.

Park Seong-hoon’s life is marked by experiences that do not match his princely appearance; during his student days, he often had to swallow his tears because he didn’t even have money to buy a hamburger, and he had received a call from his mother during his military service saying there was no money for a dream-like vacation. He has spent seven and a half years living a semi-underground life while steadily building his acting career on stage.

It can be said that “Squid Game” Season 2 represents the fruition of his journey as an actor who has risen from such depths. Korean fans now affectionately call him “Jeon Jae-soon” (a feminized name version of his character’s name, Jeon Jae-jun, from “The Glory”).
